Just A Few People With A Mad Love For Dogs and Rescues.

About 2007 or so, Lisa Presnail and I were doing a photoshoot for Nicole Rivera, an Animal Rescue advocate. She was flying in from New York and wanted to take pictures with a pit bull (she had written a book about her experience with a pitty). We looked high and low for a dog model, and found a local shelter called Pet Pal Animal Shelter and they had a pit bull named Brock who was looking for a home.

So out jumps Brock from the back of a truck. Big, muscular, just what your prejudice thought he’d look like. Well, he was just the opposite. Happy, sweet, funny and just a beautiful soul that you could see in his eyes.

I have to say, I wasn’t interested in a dog, especially a rescue and certainly not a pit bull. Well, to make a long story short, we went to Pet Pal the next day and adopted Brock.

We heard such bad things about the breed, that we were actually scared the first few nights. But as we got to know him, and realized that so much misinformation about the breed was out there, we naturally fell in love with the dogs and it began a journey of rescue, rehabilitation, joy, sadness, love and loss. But I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world!

Special thanks goes out to Lisa Presnail who kept saying “NO” until she met each one, from Brock to Leroy and Bella, Angel, Oliver, Nickoli and the hoards that ran through our house and became as obsessed as I was. And to Donna Reynolds and Tim Racer of Bad Rap, the California based rescue and rehabilitation center who helped us understand that it’s more human error that dog breed.

Connie Johnson, Nadine Znajda and all the amazing rescue people who devote their lives to creatures that cannot call 911.

So here I am, a marketing guy with a hundred t-shirt ideas dancing in my head and nothing to do with them. Stray Dogs is the result of the journey, the friends we’ve made along the way, the marketing we’ve done for this breed and others and another way I can give back to the dogs who changed my life and the lives of so many others.

As you might know, 10% of the gross sales goes to Pet Pal as our way of saying THANK YOU to a wonderful group of caring animal advocates who do it all for the love of the animals that pass through on their journey to a happier life.
